In this instructor-led, live training, we start with a discussion of microservice architecture. Participant knowledge is put to the test through exercises and the step-by-step development of sample microservices.

Spring Cloud is a platform for building Java-based distributed systems and microservices.

Building complex enterprise applications is challenging. Any change made to a part of the systems could trigger the need for changing the design of the entire system.

In this instructor-led, live training, participants will learn how to evaluate different technologies and approaches for the design of a services-based system architecture. The training begins with a discussion and comparison of monolithic systems and service architectures, then digs into the details of microservice architecture.

Participants are given a chance to put their knowledge into practice as they step through the creation and deployment of a set of proof-of-concept microservices built with Spring Cloud, Spring Boot and Docker.

Finally, the relevant infrastructure building blocks are examined to help participants determine the most suitable tools and approaches to use for different organizational requirements.

Spring Cloud is an open-source lightweight microservices framework for building Java applications for the cloud. Netflix OSS is a set of frameworks and libraries for developing microservices. Spring Cloud integrates nicely with Netflix components using auto configuration and convention over configuration.

Spring Cloud is a microservices framework for building Java applications for the cloud. These microservices are often run as Docker containers inside a Kubernetes cluster. Other components include message brokers such as Kafka to enable inter-service communication and databases such as Redis to store and buffer application data.

Docker is a platform for developers and sysadmins to maintain distributed applications. It consists of a runtime to run containers and a service for sharing containers.

With docker the same app can run unchanged on laptops, dedicated servers and virtual servers.

This course teaches the basic usage of Docker, useful both for developers and system administrators. The course includes a lot of hands on exercises and the participants will practice in their own Docker environment and build their own Docker images during the 2 days.

Rancher is an open source PaaS platform for managing Kubernetes on any infrastructure.

This instructor-led, live course provides participants with an overview of Rancher and demonstrates through hands-on practice how to deploy and manage a Kubernetes cluster with Rancher.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

• Install and configure Rancher.
• Launch a Kubernetes cluster using RKE (Rancher Kubernetes Engine).
• Manage multiple cloud Kubernetes clusters while avoiding vendor lock-in.

Docker is an open-source platform for automating the process of building, shipping and running applications inside containers. Kubernetes goes one step further by providing the tools needed to deploy and manage containerized applications at scale in a clustered environment.

In this instructor-led, live training (onsite or remote), participants will learn how to create and manage Docker containers, then deploy a sample application inside a container. Participants will also learn how to automate, scale, and manage their containerized applications within a Kubernetes cluster. Finally, the training goes on to more advanced topics, walking participants through the process of securing, scaling and monitoring a Kubernetes cluster.

OpenShift Container Platform (formerly OpenShift Enterprise) v. 4 is a collection of software put together by Red Hat for deploying containers and Kubernetes in the enterprise. New features in version 4 include Operators, machine sets, and CoreOS -- all of which enable clusters to self-manage some functions previously performed by administrators.
